In Loving Memory of Kelvanisha Stanley, Kareem Felder, and Jakobe Brumfield

PORT ALLEN, La. — The Hammond community is mourning the tragic loss of Kelvanisha Stanley, 20, Kareem Felder, 19, and Jakobe Brumfield, 20, who were killed in a fiery crash along I-10 eastbound in West Baton Rouge Parish on Monday morning, January 19.

According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around 4 a.m. when a vehicle veered into the woods and struck a tree between the Grosse Tete and Lobdell exits, causing the car to burst into flames. Emergency responders arrived at the scene but were unable to save the three victims.

Troopers confirmed that Kelvanisha Stanley, the driver, and passengers Kareem Felder and Jakobe Brumfield, all residents of Hammond, were pronounced dead at the scene due to the fire and injuries sustained in the collision. The vehicle was burned beyond recognition, and investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.

The Louisiana State Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including potential contributing factors such as speed or roadway conditions.

Family, friends, and the Hammond community are left grieving the sudden and tragic loss of these young lives.
