SAN DIEGO — The city of San Diego is mourning the tragic deaths of Evelyn Virgen, 28, and Ruben Chavez, 31, who were fatally shot early Monday morning on the 100th block of 27th Street in the Grant Hill neighborhood.
San Diego Police responded around 12:30 a.m. to an anonymous tip and discovered both victims deceased at the scene. Nearby, officers found three unharmed children in a parked car, later confirmed to be Evelyn Virgen’s children. The children were placed into protective custody.
Authorities reported that Virgen and Chavez had been dating and were involved in a dispute with Chavez’s ex-girlfriend, Princess Perez, and her current boyfriend, Ramses “Rex” Morales.
