FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Family, friends, and the Antioch community are mourning the tragic loss of D’Juan Brown, 21, who was killed early Sunday morning in a violent wrong-way crash on westbound Interstate 80 in Fairfield, California.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s Solano County division, the crash occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. east of the Cordelia Weigh Station. Brown was one of three people who died at the scene following a severe collision that shut down the freeway for approximately five hours.
Investigators said the initial crash involved a white Dodge Charger carrying two men and a black Land Rover driven by a woman. The impact was catastrophic, and all three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to Brown, the victims were identified as 21-year-old Douglas McClain and 34-year-old Sweta Burathoki of Vacaville.
Authorities have not yet confirmed which vehicle was traveling the wrong way, but witnesses reported seeing a light-colored sedan driving against traffic moments before the collision. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
A second collision occurred shortly afterward when a black Tesla Model Y struck a red Toyota Tacoma in the same area. The Tacoma’s driver sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Officials said impairment was ruled out in the second crash.
As the investigation continues, loved ones remember D’Juan Brown for the life he lived and the future taken far too soon. The community continues to grieve, offering prayers and condolences to all families affected by this devastating tragedy.
