In Loving Memory of Neather Kelly

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — The community is mourning the loss of Neather Kelly, 94, of Bowman, whose body was discovered after her car was found abandoned in a ditch.

Kelly was last seen Sunday night, and deputies reported her missing early Monday morning. Authorities confirmed just before 10:40 a.m. Monday that Kelly had died.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said her vehicle was located in a ditch on the 700 block of Magnolia Street. Deputies believe the car may have gone into the ditch between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Details regarding the exact location of Kelly or the cause and manner of death have not yet been confirmed.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell expressed sorrow over the tragic outcome: “It is with the deepest sorrow we announce we have located Miss Kelly. Unfortunately, this outcome is not what we had hoped and prayed for. Please pray for this family.”

Deputies also noted concern for Kelly’s safety during the frigid overnight temperatures when she was first reported missing.

Kelly’s passing leaves family, friends, and the community grieving the loss of a beloved elder. Loved ones remember her for the life she lived and the warmth she brought to those around her. As authorities continue their work, the community holds her family close in thought and prayer during this difficult time.
