HINDS COUNTY, Miss. — Hinds County is mourning the tragic loss of Bobbie Freeman, a 66-year-old man from Jackson, who was found dead Sunday morning during extreme winter weather conditions. His death has been confirmed as Mississippi’s second reported winter weather-related fatality.
According to Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard, Freeman was discovered around 9 a.m. Sunday in the driveway of a home along St. Thomas Parkway in Bolton. Investigators said Freeman had left his vehicle sometime Saturday night after it was found off the roadway. It remains unclear whether the vehicle ran off the road or broke down.
Authorities reported that Freeman was located approximately one mile away from his vehicle and had been exposed to freezing temperatures overnight and into Sunday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene, with prolonged exposure to the extreme cold believed to have played a role.
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As winter weather continues to impact the region, Hinds County residents are grieving the loss of life and are reminded of the dangers posed by severe cold conditions. Thoughts and prayers remain with Freeman’s loved ones and all families affected by the storm’s devastating toll.
