It is with a heavy heart that Indian Lake Schools mourns the tragic loss of one of our students. Shawn Humphrey, an 11-year-old sixth grader, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning.
Shawn joined our school community at the start of the school year alongside his siblings and quickly became a part of the Laker family. Known for his bright spirit and kind nature, he touched the lives of classmates, teachers, and staff alike.
He was the beloved son of Jristian Humphrey and Justice Oyer and the stepson of Bailey Dickerson, all proud Laker graduates. Shawn’s family, friends, and school community are left to grieve the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
Funeral arrangements are still pending. When students and staff return to school, mental health support and resources will be available to help everyone process this heartbreaking loss.
We ask that you keep Shawn’s family, friends, and teachers in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Though his life was short, Shawn’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him at Indian Lake Schools. His energy, kindness, and presence will not be forgotten.
