In Loving Memory of Hayden Jones

WAUKEGAN, Ill. — The Waukegan community is mourning the loss of Hayden Jones, 22, of Oklahoma, who was killed in a tragic single-vehicle crash on Monday evening.

Authorities reported that the crash occurred around 6:31 p.m. on the 1100 block of South Lewis Avenue in Waukegan. Emergency crews found Jones’ car off the roadway after it had struck a fence and collided with nearby trees. During the crash, a fence pole penetrated the windshield, fatally injuring Jones, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones, who was stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes, suffered blunt force trauma to the head, according to autopsy findings. Waukegan Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the fatal collision.
