EMMETT, Idaho — The community is mourning the tragic loss of Dallin Laufenberg, following a plane crash on Tuesday in the Black Canyon area east of Emmett. Laufenberg, a resident of Meridian, was one of two men aboard the aircraft that crashed onto the icy Payette River after striking a power line.
According to the Gem County Sheriff’s Office, the plane’s impact with the power line caused the aircraft to go down on the river, resulting in a fatal crash. The incident also caused a significant power outage across the eastern portion of Gem County.
