In Loving Memory of Michael Mishaw

JACKSON, Mich. — The Jackson community is mourning the tragic loss of Michael Mishaw, a 49-year-old man who was found fatally shot on the city’s east side on the morning of January 28.

According to the Jackson Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 8:45 a.m. to the 1600 block of East Michigan Avenue, where Mishaw was discovered deceased in the rear area of a parking lot. Investigators said he had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso. A passerby found Mishaw and immediately called 911.

Police believe the incident may be connected to reports of gunfire earlier that same morning. At approximately 2:13 a.m., officers responded to a call reporting multiple shots fired in the area of Orange Street. While officers checked the area at that time, nothing suspicious was located.

Detectives later confirmed Mishaw as the victim of a homicide. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, and no arrests have been announced.
