LINTHICUM, Md. — The community is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of Joseph Keith Aman, a 37-year-old Baltimore resident who was fatally shot while working as a contracted security guard at a Northrop Grumman facility on January 28, 2026.
According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, officers responded at approximately 3:30 p.m. to the 7300 block of Aviation Boulevard after reports of a shooting inside the facility. Maryland Transportation Authority Police had secured the scene and taken the suspect into custody before county officers arrived.
Investigators said a dispute occurred inside the facility between two contracted security guards. During the confrontation, one guard discharged a firearm, striking Aman. Despite emergency response efforts, Aman died from his injuries at the scene.
Police confirmed that a third contracted security guard intervened, disarmed the suspect, and held him until officers arrived. Authorities emphasized the incident was isolated and did not involve any Northrop Grumman employees.
Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Detectives assumed control of the investigation, interviewing witnesses and processing the scene. The suspect’s weapon was recovered as evidence. The suspect, identified as Dylan Blake Chandler, 26, of Pasadena, Maryland, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, along with related offenses.
