SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield community is mourning the tragic loss of Wesley Osborne, 48, who died in a pedestrian crash on I-44 early Thursday morning, January 29, 2026.
According to the Springfield Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 1:16 a.m. near the U.S. 65 exit, when Mohammed Soghar, 36, of Kansas City, Kansas, was driving a 2017 Freightliner semi-truck westbound and struck Osborne, who was on the westbound highway lane. Wesley Osborne was pronounced dead at the scene, and his family has been notified of the heartbreaking loss.
This tragedy marks the second traffic fatality in Springfield for 2026, and it has deeply affected Osborne’s family, friends, and the broader community. Those who knew him remember a life that was cut far too short, leaving a void in the lives of all who loved him.
