BURTON, Mich. — The Burton community is mourning the tragic loss of Domo Monroe, 34, who died Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 475 in nearby Grand Blanc Township.
According to the Grand Blanc Township Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 1:25 p.m. on the southbound lanes of I-475, between Hill Road and the southern junction with I-75. Monroe was driving a Kia when the vehicle left the roadway, traveled onto the shoulder, and overturned.
Monroe, a Burton resident, was alone in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators stated it does not appear Monroe was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. No other vehicles were involved.
One lane of southbound I-475 was temporarily closed while the Crash Investigation Reconstruction Team documented the scene and collected evidence. Motorists were asked to proceed with caution while passing through the area.
The sudden passing of Domo Monroe has left family, friends, and neighbors in Burton heartbroken. A life was cut tragically short, and the loss is being felt deeply throughout the community.
