DAVIE, Fla. — The Davie community is mourning the tragic loss of Aileen Martinez, 20, of North Miami, who was fatally shot on January 27, 2026, outside the Aveda Institute South Florida, where she was studying cosmetology.
According to family and law enforcement, the incident was a murder-suicide, and the suspect, a 25-year-old man who had previously been in a relationship with Martinez, took his own life at the scene. The shooting prompted a significant police response, and nearby schools went on lockdown while authorities secured the area.
Aileen Martinez was a vibrant young woman with a passion for music. She had studied at a Miami music school for four years and performed with local bands.
