In Loving Memory of Thomas O’Neil, Brianna Bruno, and Their Young Son

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The Hattiesburg community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Thomas O’Neil, 37, Brianna Bruno, 32, and their three-year-old son, who were found deceased at a home on the 500 block of 7th Avenue on January 27, 2026.

Officers with the Hattiesburg Police Department responded to a welfare check that afternoon and discovered the three victims inside the residence. Detectives and crime scene personnel began an immediate investigation.

According to autopsy results released on January 29, Thomas O’Neil and his three-year-old son died from gunshot wounds, and their deaths were ruled homicides. Brianna Bruno also died from a gunshot wound, with her death ruled a suicide. Authorities have confirmed that this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

This tragic event has left a profound void for the victims’ family, friends, and the Hattiesburg community. Thomas, Brianna, and their young child were taken far too soon, and the sorrow of their passing is deeply felt.
