BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Bloomington community is grieving the sudden and tragic loss of Steven Porter, 37, who died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 39 in Woodford County on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
According to the Woodford County Coroner’s Office, Porter was driving a white SUV when he collided with the rear trailer of an oversize load. Emergency responders were called to the scene around 12:05 p.m., but despite immediate efforts, Porter was pronounced deceased at the scene before 1 p.m.
The Woodford County Sheriff’s Office, the Coroner’s Office, and the Illinois State Police are continuing to investigate the crash to determine the exact circumstances that led to this fatal collision.
Porter’s passing is a devastating loss to his family, friends, and the Bloomington community. He will be remembered for the mark he left on those around him and the love and connection he shared with family and friends.
