Phoenix, Arizona — The Phoenix community is mourning the tragic loss of 35-year-old Melvina Jones and 40-year-old Ruben Almanza, who both died following a devastating two-vehicle collision Thursday night near 75th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.
According to Phoenix police, the crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. when Almanza’s vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, striking the car driven by Jones. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. Almanza was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
Jones was remembered by family and friends as a vibrant, caring individual whose presence brightened the lives of those around her. Her loss leaves an immeasurable void in the community and among loved ones.
Almanza, 40, also tragically lost his life in the crash. The incident is a solemn reminder of the fragility of life and the dangers that can arise on the road.
