DOTHAN, Ala. — The Dothan community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 33-year-old Wesley Blake Bowen, who was tragically found dead inside a truck near the DoubleTree Hotel on Friday morning, January 30, 2026.
According to authorities, Bowen’s vehicle was discovered partially submerged in a small ditch near Ross Clark Circle, close to the CarMax sign. Emergency responders and Dothan Police Department officers secured the scene and removed the vehicle while the investigation began.
Coroner Robert Byrd confirmed Bowen’s identity and stated that his next of kin have been notified. The coroner’s office will send his body to Montgomery for further examination to determine the official cause of death.
Law enforcement officials have detained one person of interest in connection with the investigation, though no charges have been filed at this time. Authorities also briefly questioned two individuals near Bojangles and another person on Stonewood Drive.
Bowen, a longtime resident of Dothan, leaves behind family and friends who are grappling with this sudden and tragic loss. The community is asked to keep Bowen’s loved ones in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
The Dothan Police Department continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information to come forward to help provide answers in this ongoing case.
