DARKE COUNTY, Ohio — The Versailles community is mourning the tragic loss of Xavier Miller, 20, who passed away following a snowmobile accident late Thursday night, January 29, 2026.
According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Department, deputies, along with Ansonia Rescue, Versailles Fire Department, and CareFlight, responded around 11:33 p.m. to the area of Brown Road and Shaffer Road after a report of a snowmobile crash with injuries. Investigators reported that a 2003 Ski-Doo MXZ snowmobile, operated by Miller, was traveling south through a field when it struck an embankment, became airborne, and collided with a guardrail. Miller was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest in the roadway.
First responders provided medical care at the scene before Miller was airlifted by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. The Darke County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Xavier Miller’s passing is a heartbreaking loss to his family, friends, and the Versailles community. He will be remembered for his energy, spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him.
