WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. — The Pullman community is grieving the tragic loss of Angelina D’Amato, 22, who died following a serious traffic collision on State Route 195 on Friday afternoon, January 30, 2026.
According to the Washington State Patrol, D’Amato was a passenger in a 2009 Toyota Corolla attempting to cross SR 195 from Albion Road toward Hamilton Hill Road when the vehicle failed to yield the right of way. The Corolla was struck broadside by a southbound semi truck traveling within the posted speed limit, forcing the vehicle off the roadway and into a nearby field. Angelina D’Amato was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, 20-year-old Vincent Long of Maple Valley, was critically injured and airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he remains hospitalized in a coma. All occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The semi truck driver was not injured.
The roadway was closed for several hours as emergency crews and investigators processed the scene. The Washington State Patrol continues to review the circumstances of the crash, and impairment is not believed to have played a role.
