ABBEVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — The Abbeville County community is mourning the loss of Christopher O’Quinn, 35, who died in a tragic UTV-related accident during a winter storm on January 31, 2026, according to the Abbeville County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities said the fatal incident occurred on private, family-owned property at a Honea Path address within Abbeville County. Preliminary findings indicate that the accident happened while O’Quinn was sledding in an incident involving a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) amid hazardous winter weather conditions.
Emergency responders from Abbeville County EMS, along with deputies from the Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office, were dispatched to the scene. Despite life-saving efforts, Christopher O’Quinn was pronounced deceased at the location.
The Abbeville County Coroner’s Office, in coordination with local law enforcement, continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials have not released further details at this time.
