Terrance Jones Found Deceased in Adams County, Mississippi

NATCHEZ, Miss. — The Natchez community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Terrance Jones, whose body was discovered on February 1, 2026, after he had been reported missing in late January.

Jones, whose family reported him missing in late January, was last seen in December. Deputies were first contacted on January 26, 2026, by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and later by Jones’ sister, who provided additional information on his last known whereabouts and requested assistance.

On February 1, 2026, at approximately 11:48 a.m., deputies responded to an abandoned residence at 30 North Commerce Street Extension after observing an open rear door and detecting a strong odor. Inside, they discovered a body wrapped in blankets, later confirmed to be Terrance Jones.

The Adams County Coroner has taken custody of the body, which will be transported to the Mississippi Crime Laboratory for a full forensic examination by the State Medical Examiner to determine the official cause of death. Officials noted there were no obvious signs of foul play, though a complete investigation is ongoing.

Sheriff Travis Patten extended condolences to the family, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones as they grieve this tragic loss. We wish the circumstances were different, but we are thankful that Mr. Jones was located, as many missing persons cases do not end with closure.”

Further information will be released as the investigation continues.
