GWNNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A tragic officer-involved shooting occurred on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at approximately 7:30 a.m. at 1790 E. Park Place Blvd., when officers were responding to a fraud call.
During the incident, officers encountered a suspect who fired shots, striking two Gwinnett County Police officers. The officers returned fire, injuring the suspect. Both the officers and the suspect were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police Officer Senior Pradeep Tamang (#2741) succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Officer Tamang joined the Gwinnett County Police Department in July 2024 and graduated from the 121st Police Academy in May 2025.
Master Police Officer David M. Reed (#1802) remains in critical but stable condition while receiving treatment. Officer Reed joined the department in September 2015 and graduated from the 94th Police Academy.
The suspect has been identified as 35-year-old Kevin Andrews. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and will be transported to the Gwinnett County Jail once released from the hospital.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has assumed control of the investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
