TUCSON, Ariz. — The Tucson community is mourning the tragic loss of Rosendo Ojeda, 73, who died in a pedestrian accident on North Sabino Canyon Road near East Sabino Hollow Court on January 31, 2026.
Deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported that Ojeda was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road shortly after 8:00 p.m. A female pedestrian was also involved in the incident and was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries; she is now in stable condition.
The driver of the vehicle that remained at the scene was unharmed, and preliminary investigations indicate that a second vehicle, believed to be a blue 2002–2006 Toyota Avalon, may have also struck Ojeda but did not stay at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
