HEBRON, Ind. — The Hebron community and the Steel Wheels BMX family are mourning the tragic loss of 13-year-old Oliver Ball-Reed, who passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, following an accident in Hobart, Indiana.
According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, Oliver was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart at 9:59 p.m. after sustaining multiple blunt force injuries at 709 N. Hobart Road. A forensic autopsy is scheduled to be performed at the Lake County Forensic Center on Monday, Feb. 2. Hobart Police Department, Hobart Fire Department, and Portage Fire Department were involved in responding to the incident.
Oliver was a beloved member of the Steel Wheels BMX community, known for his passion for biking, adventurous spirit, and the joy he brought to friends, family, and fellow riders. His sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family, friends, and community members continue to honor Oliver’s memory and celebrate the energy, enthusiasm, and kindness he shared throughout his life. His legacy will be remembered by all who loved him.
