CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Slavic Village community is mourning the tragic loss of 19-year-old Crystal Pittman, who was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in Cleveland.
According to the Cleveland Division of Police, officers were dispatched around 1:20 a.m. to the 7000 block of Gertrude Avenue after a ShotSpotter alert detected gunfire. Upon arrival, police found two females suffering from gunshot wounds. Cleveland EMS provided medical care at the scene. Crystal Pittman was pronounced dead, while a 15-year-old girl was transported to a hospital for further treatment. Her condition was not immediately released.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Crystal as the deceased victim. Police reported that a person of interest has been identified, and the department’s Crime Scene Unit processed the scene while the homicide unit continues to lead the investigation. No arrests have been announced at this time.
Crystal Pittman is remembered by family, friends, and the Slavic Village community as a young woman whose life was taken far too soon. Her sudden and heartbreaking passing leaves a deep void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
