TROUP, Texas — The Troup community is mourning the tragic loss of Easton Roper, an 11-year-old sixth-grade student at Troup Middle School, who passed away Friday night, Jan. 30, 2026, following a four-wheeler accident.
Easton was remembered by his family and loved ones as “the sweetest kid,” known for his kind spirit and the positive impact he had on everyone around him. Troup Middle School described his passing as “heartbreaking for the school community” and asked the community to keep his family in their thoughts while respecting their privacy during this difficult time.
To support students affected by the loss, counselors and support staff will be available on campus for those needing to speak with someone. Families are encouraged to discuss the tragedy with their children and to reach out to the school for additional support as needed.
Funeral services for Easton Roper are scheduled as follows: a viewing on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville, and a funeral service on Friday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mixon. He will be laid to rest following the service.
