In Loving Memory of Elaine C. Corbit

MILWAUKEE, WI — The Milwaukee community is grieving the untimely loss of Elaine C. Corbitt, 41, who tragically passed away Tuesday evening in a devastating traffic accident on the city’s southwest side.

Police reported that the crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. on January 13 on the 9300 block of West Wilbur Avenue. A 60-year-old driver, traveling at a dangerously high speed through a residential area, lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree. Elaine, a passenger in the car, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity was later confirmed by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office on January 14.

The driver survived with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. He was arrested at the scene, and charges are currently under review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

This tragic crash comes as the city begins the year on a somber note; Milwaukee police reported that as of January 13, three people had already died in traffic crashes, compared with 61 fatalities in 2025 and 67 in 2024.
