Robert Garrison, 49, of Hannibal, Dies in Snowmobile Crash in Victory, N.Y.

VICTORY, N.Y. — The New York State Police in SP Auburn have released the name of the man who died following a snowmobile crash in the town of Victory on January 27, 2026.

Authorities identified the victim as Robert Garrison, 49, of Hannibal. Police said Garrison was operating a 2022 Lynx snowmobile westbound on a designated trail that crosses Ira Station Road at approximately 2:39 p.m. The trail is marked with stop signs on both sides of the road.

Preliminary findings indicate that Garrison failed to stop before entering the roadway, crossed the northbound lane, and collided with the plow blade of a southbound Town of Victory highway snowplow. After the initial impact, the snowmobile struck a wooden utility pole with an attached electrical box and caught fire.

Garrison was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where emergency personnel performed life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead.

The snowplow, a 2019 International Harvester, was driven by a 45-year-old local man, who was cooperative and showed no signs of impairment.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and is continuing its investigation into the crash.

Robert Garrison’s sudden and tragic death has left family, friends, and the Hannibal and Victory communities grieving the loss of a life cut far too short.
