Coroner Identifies Tanner Johnson as Victim in Fatal Mount Pleasant Crash

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — The Charleston County Coroner has identified the victim of a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred early Sunday morning in Mount Pleasant.

According to Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal, Tanner Johnson, 30, died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The collision happened at approximately 1:01 a.m. at the intersection of North Highway 17 and Bowman Road, a busy area frequently traveled during overnight hours. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported and found Johnson unresponsive. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, officials have not released details regarding how many vehicles were involved or what may have led up to the crash. No other injuries were reported.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is actively investigating the incident and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. Investigators are expected to review evidence from the scene, including vehicle damage and roadway conditions, as part of the ongoing investigation.

Johnson’s death has left family members and friends mourning the loss of a life cut short. Authorities have not indicated whether speed, impairment, or other factors may have played a role.
