The Remsen, New York, community is mourning the tragic loss of Rykah J. Lyons, 16, who passed away following a snowmobile accident in the town of Russia on February 2, 2026.
According to New York State Police, Rykah was operating a snowmobile southbound on a secondary trail near Riggerman Road when he lost control and the vehicle veered off the trail, striking a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders, including North Star Ambulance, the Remsen Fire Department, and the Barneveld Fire Department, assisted at the scene. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
Rykah was a young life full of promise, whose passing has left family, friends, and the community heartbroken. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him, the warmth of his presence, and the memories he created during his short life.
