SPRING GROVE, Pa. — Authorities have identified the man and woman who were killed in a deadly shooting at an apartment complex in Spring Grove as investigators continue to examine a suspected murder-suicide, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.
York County Regional Police were dispatched to Spring Hallow Apartments, located in the first block of East 3rd Avenue, at approximately 4:13 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, after reports of a shooting involving two deceased individuals.
The coroner’s office identified one of the victims as Tyrelle Dwayne Manley Sr., 33, who resided at the apartment where the shooting occurred. Manley died from multiple gunshot wounds. His manner of death remains under investigation.
The second victim was identified as Leticia Velez, 34—listed as 32 in her obituary—also of Spring Grove Borough. She also died from multiple gunshot wounds, with her manner of death pending, according to a separate coroner’s release issued Wednesday, February 4.
Deputy Coroner Scott Pennewill responded to the scene to investigate and certify the deaths. Autopsies were conducted on Tuesday, February 3, at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Velez was employed as a Customer Service Representative at Waste Connections, where she had worked full-time since August 2022.
Following Manley’s identification, family members shared emotional tributes on social media, describing him as a devoted father and uncle who played a central role in his family’s life. One family member wrote that Manley helped raise her son after the child’s father—Manley’s brother—was killed, calling him “a damn good uncle” who had been present in her son’s life since the age of five. While acknowledging Manley’s struggles with mental health, she described him as sweet, respectful, and kind-hearted.
Family members also referenced the 2012 death of Manley’s brother, Tyrone Manley, who was fatally stabbed outside a nightclub on Second Street in Harrisburg, according to both family statements and media reports from that time.
“My son doesn’t have his dad or his uncle,” the woman wrote, expressing concern for Manley’s children and hoping her son could one day share memories of Manley with them, just as Manley shared stories about his late brother.
Another family member urged the public to refrain from speculation surrounding the circumstances of the deaths and asked for prayers as the family grieves multiple losses. She highlighted Manley’s love for his children and his mother.
York County Regional Police remain the lead investigating agency. Authorities have emphasized that the incident is isolated and that there is no danger to the public.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
