KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead and another is in custody following a shooting Wednesday night at Bally’s Casino in Kansas City, authorities say.
Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of East Front Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim in the casino parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officers immediately began performing life-saving measures and called KCFD EMS to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The victim has been identified as Aundre Harris Jr., 18.
Police say the incident is being investigated as a homicide. A subject of interest was taken into custody at the scene and remains under investigation.
Preliminary reports indicate the shooting stemmed from a disturbance inside the casino involving multiple individuals, which later escalated into an altercation in the parking lot where shots were fired, striking Harris.
Authorities are urging anyone who was in the area and may have seen or heard anything to contact Homicide Detectives at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously through the TIPS hotline.
