CLEVELAND — Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 10:55 p.m. on February 2, 2026, after 6-7 gunshots were detected in the Bundy Drive area. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found 42-year-old Preston Franklin unresponsive in a parking lot. The officers quickly transported him to Metro Health Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed Franklin’s identity. Authorities have not yet released further details about the circumstances of the shooting, but the incident is under investigation. Officers are seeking to determine the events that led to Franklin’s death.
