The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the victim in a Thursday afternoon shooting on Versailles Road in Lexington. The victim was 17-year-old Johnathon Hunt. The coroner ruled his death a homicide, caused by a gunshot wound.
Lexington Police say officers were dispatched just after 4 p.m. to the 1500 block of Versailles Road following reports of a shooting at an apartment complex. When they arrived, they found Hunt in the parking lot with gunshot injuries. Despite immediate efforts by first responders, Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene.
An LEX 18 News crew confirmed the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Westminster Village Apartments. Police have not released details regarding a suspect or motive, as the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Lexington Police Department or submit tips anonymously through BlueGrass Crime Stoppers.
