CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Cedar Falls Police have identified the female who died from gunshot injuries in a February 5 incident at an apartment on Maplewood Drive. The victim has been named Jaye’mya E’shay Sudduth, 21, of 1029 Maplewood Drive, Apartment #8. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a dispute between acquaintances who both reside at the apartment. Law enforcement responded around 7:28 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a fight and a person being shot. Despite lifesaving measures, Sudduth succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities confirmed the identity of the alleged shooter but emphasized that the public is not considered at risk. Police are continuing to conduct interviews and gather evidence. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The Cedar Falls Police Department urges anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
