Troopers Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on State Route 241

PAINT TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Friday morning on State Route 241, north of Mount Eaton near milepost 4 in Paint Township.

According to the Patrol, the Wooster Dispatch Center received a report of the crash at approximately 7:36 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026. A preliminary investigation determined that a dark blue 2012 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling southbound on State Route 241 when the driver lost control while navigating a slight curve. The vehicle crossed left of center and collided with a northbound 2007 Ford EC3 van.

Following the impact, both vehicles traveled off the east side of the roadway and came to rest in a ditch.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, identified as Ina M. Wengerd, 30, of Dalton, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities confirmed that Wengerd was wearing her safety belt at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Ford EC3 van, Zeferino Navarro Vasquez, 27, of Canton, was also wearing a safety belt and was not injured.

Assisting agencies at the scene included the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Paint Township Fire and EMS, the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, and Star American Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
