San Angelo Police Investigating Fatal Shooting at Windmill Apartments

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday night at the Windmill Apartments.

On February 6, 2026, at approximately 8:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Raney Street in reference to a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers took a 19-year-old male, identified as Norberto Gonzales, into custody without incident.

Officers then located the victim, Jordan DeLaCruz, 18, inside an apartment. DeLaCruz was transported to Shannon Emergency Room, where he was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

Preliminary investigation determined that both individuals were recklessly handling a handgun inside the apartment when the firearm was discharged. Authorities stated that the discharge resulted in DeLaCruz being shot by Gonzales.

As a result of the investigation, Norberto Gonzales was arrested and charged with Manslaughter. Officials said there is no further information to release at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by the San Angelo Police Department.
