The Fayetteville community is mourning the loss of Damarr Johnson, 44, who was tragically shot and killed early Saturday morning in an incident at the Topeka Heights apartment complex.
Deputies with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded around midnight to reports of shots fired on the 2900 block of Dwelle Drive. Upon arrival, they found Damarr Johnson with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention and transport to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have indicated that the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident and not random. Detectives continue to gather evidence and follow leads while offering support to the victim’s family and the apartment complex community.
