Tragic Double Death in Metcalfe County: Elderly Couple Dies in Wednesday Shooting Incident

EDMONTON, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Wednesday morning at a residence in Metcalfe County, authorities confirmed.

According to KSP Post 15, troopers and detectives responded to a home on Shady Grove Wickerville Road at approximately 9:35 a.m. CST on Jan. 14 after receiving a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, investigators discovered Doris June Huffman, 83, of Hardyville, deceased inside the residence from an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Metcalfe County coroner.

Authorities also located her husband, Vander Huffman, 87, inside the home suffering from life-threatening injuries caused by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to T.J. Samson Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital by the Barren County coroner.

Kentucky State Police said the case remains under active investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.

The investigation is being led by Detective Mike Dubree.
