ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — The Roanoke Rapids Police Department (RRPD) is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours of February 8, 2026, in the parking lot of the Kirkwood Adams Civic Center, located at the intersection of 11th Street and Hamilton Street.
Responding officers observed an individual, later identified as Willie Holmes, fleeing the scene. Holmes was pursued and detained near 11th and Jackson Streets, where he was found to be in possession of a firearm.
The victim, Priscilla Kee, was transported to ECU Medical Center after sustaining gunshot wounds and later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities say the incident occurred during an argument between Kee and Holmes, though the full circumstances remain under investigation.
Holmes has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is currently being held at the Halifax County Detention Center.
