19-Year-Old Identified in Fatal Cape Charles Crash

CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Virginia State Police have identified the victim in a fatal crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in the Town of Cape Charles as 19-year-old Michael Justin-Travis Rease, Jr. of Cape Charles.

According to authorities, the crash happened at approximately 4:39 p.m. on February 8, 2026, on Arlington Road between Sherwood Gate and Sapphire Court. A 2018 Buick Enclave driven by Rease reportedly ran off the right side of the roadway and into a ditch. The vehicle then overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its roof.

Rease was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials noted that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
