JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Authorities in Cambria County have identified the victim of a deadly domestic-related shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon at a home along Cypress Avenue in the Moxham section of Johnstown.
The victim was 38-year-old Kammi Ritchwood, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees confirmed that her death has been officially ruled a homicide.
Police say 43-year-old Raghib Qawi Nash is in custody after allegedly admitting to fatally shooting Ritchwood, whom he reportedly referred to as his wife. Investigators recovered a .45-caliber handgun at the scene, and preliminary reports indicate the shooting stemmed from an alleged domestic dispute.
Authorities described the incident as a “senseless act of domestic violence” and a “tragic situation.” Police noted that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
According to court records, Nash is now jailed in the Cambria County Prison and is facing charges including criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of terroristic threats. His bail has been denied, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 18 at 10 a.m.
Police reported that when officers arrived at the residence, they found Ritchwood on the floor with another woman attempting to resuscitate her. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene. Investigators also said phone calls and witness statements indicate the shooting followed a domestic dispute that reportedly began the night before. Nash allegedly made threats toward Ritchwood, including statements such as, “B**ch, I’ll murder you” and “I’ll put five plugs in you.”
Johnstown Police Chief Mark Britton emphasized that his department provides resources for victims of domestic violence and is actively pursuing training for officers to intervene before disputes escalate.
Cambria County District Attorney Jessica Aurandt described the shooting as an “isolated incident” and stated there is no further threat to the community.
