LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety provided an update Monday afternoon on a deadly incident in Plainview. Authorities are investigating the deaths of five individuals at a home in the 2700 block of Upchurch Street in the Seth Ward neighborhood.
According to DPS, the initial call regarding the incident came in at 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026. The Hale County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Texas Rangers, who are now leading the investigation.
DPS confirmed that four adults were pronounced deceased at the scene:
- Hector Alonso Sanchez, 28
- Tanya Paola Valadez Rangel, 30
- Rosalba Saenz Rodriguez, 47
- Saul Villa, 33, who has also been identified as the assailant
A fifth victim, Reily Joseph Zavala Barrientos, 21, was pronounced deceased at Covenant Hospital–Plainview.
Authorities emphasized that there is no threat to the public and that the investigation remains ongoing. No further details were released at this time.
