POINSETT COUNTY, Ark. – The community is mourning the tragic loss of Jared H. Smith, 29, of Trumann, who passed away early Thursday morning in a devastating crash on Interstate 555.
According to Arkansas State Police, Smith was struck by a 2003 Dodge Ram in the northbound lanes of I-555 at approximately 5:43 a.m. on Jan. 15. Authorities report that Smith had been standing in a lane of traffic following a prior crash when he was fatally struck. The driver of the pickup truck has not been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
Friends, family, and community members are expressing shock and sorrow at Smith’s untimely death. Those who knew him remember him as a kind and caring individual whose presence brought joy to those around him.
