28-Year-Old Man Found Shot to Death Near University of Akron; Police Investigating

AKRON, Ohio — The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Akron Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a 28-year-old man that occurred Tuesday morning near the University of Akron’s InfoCision Stadium.

According to officials, Akron police and EMS responded around 10:30 a.m. on February 10 to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 500 block of Nash Street. Upon arrival, first responders found the victim, identified as Daivan Floyd, lying on the living room floor with a gunshot wound.

Floyd was pronounced dead at 10:47 a.m., according to Summit County Medical Examiner Chief Investigator Gary Guenther. Authorities have confirmed that Floyd’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

As of Wednesday, no arrests have been made. Akron police stated that the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses.
