WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ala.— Alabama state troopers are investigating a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night that claimed the lives of two young adults in Washington County.
The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m., approximately three miles east of Tibbie on Howardtown Road. According to officials, 22-year-old Luke Dorman was driving a 2004 Toyota Tundra when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Dorman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Melissa Laton, was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for treatment of critical injuries. Authorities confirmed that she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.
Both Dorman and Laton were residents of Tibbie. Troopers reported that neither victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
