LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday around 5:20 p.m. on Calks Ferry Road near Liberty Hill Road.
According to SCHP, the crash involved a 2018 Ford pickup traveling westbound on Calks Ferry Road, which crossed left of center into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2025 Toyota pickup. The impact caused the Ford to run off the road and strike a tree.
The driver of the Ford pickup, who died from injuries sustained in the crash, has been identified by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher as 65-year-old Michael James Turner of Gilbert. The driver of the Toyota pickup was not injured.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
