SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Spartanburg community is mourning the tragic loss of Jose Antonio Bocanegra, 21, of Schooner Circle in Boiling Springs, who passed away early Sunday morning, February 15, 2026.
According to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office, Bocanegra was transported by personal vehicle to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased in the operating room just after 5:55 a.m. Medical personnel notified authorities immediately following the incident.
A forensic examination is scheduled for February 16, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, working to provide answers for Bocanegra’s family and loved ones.
