The Yamhill County community is mourning the tragic loss of Marcel Israel Benavides, 35, of Dayton, who was killed Tuesday morning in a fatal crash on Highway 154.
According to Oregon State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 8:43 a.m. on January 13, 2026, near milepost 6. Preliminary findings indicate that Marcel was traveling southbound in a Kia Spectra when his vehicle crossed the centerline for reasons still unknown and collided with a northbound commercial truck and trailer. Marcel was pronounced dead at the scene.
His sudden and devastating death has left family, friends, and loved ones in deep sorrow. Those who knew Marcel remember him as a kind, caring, and hardworking individual whose presence brought warmth and positivity to those around him.
