NEWTON, Texas — A 77-year-old Newton man tragically lost his life Sunday morning in a head-on crash on County Road 4002.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safe, the crash occurred around 7:35 a.m. near Private Road 8002. Timothy Knighton, 77, of Newton, was driving a southbound Lexus SUV when a northbound Dodge pickup crossed into his lane and struck his vehicle. Knighton was pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace.
The 40-year-old woman driving the Dodge pickup was not injured. DPS investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further information has been released at this time.
